Colombia – Travel Diary #6 : Timbío, Birthday Party, and Yellow Outfit

So, a day after we came back from Florencia, we decided to stay and sleep at the Finca. The reason for our stay is that next day we had to prepare my grandfather’s birthday ! We wanted to celebrate it at the Finca, which is his beloved first home where he lived when he had no money, so he is deeply attached to it. We grilled some meat for dinner that night ! :

 

 

 The Market of Timbío :

The next morning we were off to Timbío, the closest town to the Finca where we were. Just to remind you, we were in the countryside ! We needed to get some food for the birthday meal. It was very colorful and lively :

 

 

On the way, we also stopped by a garden center to get some plants, to decorate the celebration place !

 

 

 

 

There was also a cuuuuute kitty there… my heart melted !

 

 

 

My Grandfather’s Birthday :

We then proceeded to decorate the place, with ballons and flowers. In Colombia most birthdays I’ve seen are quite inspired from american ones, flashy and colorful. I do like it actually !

 

Here’s a part of my family, with my grandfather to the far right, all solemn as he likes to be for events like these !
He kind of hates celebrating his birthday, the only plans we can make are surprise ones because he always says something like “let’s do nothing”.
But in the end he always makes a serious speech on how family is important and that he is happy for the one he has, so I guess (I hope) he is secretly pleased inside.

 

 

 

We took advantage of the occasion to get our Colombian family to taste some french cheeses , some of them liked them a lot, some others… let’s not talk about their reaction to mold on food !

 

 

It was also a great moment to spend some time with our cousins ! Here’s a picture of them being all silly :

Yellow Outfit :

I haven’t had the chance to show you many outfits since I began my holiday here, so there it is ! This is the outfit I was wearing that day (an aunt lent me her shirt to put on top, I didn’t think it was going to be cold !), with a yellow dress : I just fell in love with the color.

The white choker I am also wearing is actually something I bought from my cousin Isabella ! She sells many cute ones like this, I couldn’t resist !  :

 

 

This is what we did that day !
The next morning we were off again to another place, called Tumaco, next to the beach this time.

It sure wasn’t as exiting as the waterfalls, but I hope you still enjoyed this post ?
