Hey there, are you up for a new review ?
This time I got my hands on the already famous Gingerbread Spice palette from Too Faced. I first got very intrigued by the design, and after seing the colors it contains, I had to get it as a Christmas gift for myself !
This product is a makeup palette (thanks captain obvious). It has many warm toned colors, which I definitely appreciate. The palette is, as Too Faced products in general, cruelty free. Their eyeshadow formula is also free of :
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates
This is how Too Faced describes its palette :
“Add a little spice to your life with this deliciously sweet gingerbread palette of 18 multi-finish warm and toasty shadows that glide on with buttery smoothness for playful pops of color that smell like fresh-baked gingerbread.”
That definitely sounds like something I’d be into !
This product costs $ 49.00
The quality of this product is good, the colors are for some very bright, and generally well pigmented. I am in LOVE with the scent, I just want to apply makeup everyday so I can have a bit of that vanilla-gingerbread cake smell !
The texture is good too in my opinion, it applies well on the eyelid, especially the mattes that blend easily. The only issue is a few of the metallics are a bit chunky, but I’m fine with it. I’m not a makeup artist, so I don’t need those colors to be perfectly fit for technical artsy makeup looks. The only real issue is that frostbite me is a bit difficult to use, it may flake and fall off if not applied with a finger. Other than that, the colors mostly go together well. I’m just a newbie that loves makeup, and playing around with this set of colors is a lot of fun !
Plus : they hold quite ok until the end of the day. If like me you have oily skin, you know that at 12 o’clock you don’t have eyeshadow on the lid anymore (especially since I never wear foundation underneath or any kind of primer). It’s particularly true with cheap ones, they just become a faint oily tint.
But these definitely hold better, here are some pictures to compare :
My makeup at 7:00 a.m. on the left, and then at 7:00 p.m. on the right. The colors definitely blended together, but there’s still some color left !
I used Hot Toddy, Powdered Sugar, and Reindeer Paws.
The design is the best, I think any Holiday lover will agree with me ! I just want to take a bite of gingerbread when I see that cute gingerbread man on the palette. I really enjoy the nostalgic childhood aesthetic Too Faced uses for its packaging.
It also kind of reminds me of the gingerbread man from Shrek, I really liked that character, anyone remembers him ? 🙂
The palette costs $ 49.00, which isn’t actually cheap to be honest. But for all the different colors, the pigmentation, the quantity of product inside, and the BEST PACKAGING EVER, it is for me. I think this palette is going to last a few years, and there’s no way I’ll ever get tired of that delicious smell.
I’m not a makeup artist, I’m just a makeup lover, so I don’t have the same expectations as pro MUAs. I think for someone who wants to start with a “real” makeup palette, this is a really great option.
FINAL RATING : ★★★★★
5/5
Here’s a very simple makeup look I tried out, using : Spiked Eggnog, Hot Toddy, and Figgy Pudding
⟶ Sephora
The palette is so successful that it’s sold out almost everywhere !
But it’s always available on Sephora, and sometimes it will pop up again on the Too Faced website.
Would you like to try it out ?
What are your thoughts on the Gingerbread Spice palette ? 🙂
