Hey !
If you guys have been wondering why I didn’t do my favorites posts these last two months, it’s because I’m changing the concept ! Instead of doing a monthly series this year I’ll be doing a seasonal one, with all the things that I’ve enjoyed during the said season ?
I just felt that doing a favorites post every month was a bit too much, sometimes I only had not that interesting things to show you because I didn’t do that much in one month !
So here are my Winter Favorites (featuring mostly January and February, since I already did a December Favorites post last year), organized in 3 categories :
❆ Sewing Class
If you follow me on Instagram you already know this : me and my sister signed up for a sewing class ! I was already kind of self-taught before (I made a few skirts/dresses/bags in my teen years), and my grand mother also gave me classes some years ago.
But my sister didn’t knew anything about sewing, and I thought that it would be a good thing to go with her. First, because the more the merrier, but also because I wanted to get better and refine my skills by practicing !
My watermelon printed pencil case : love that fabric ! ?
❆ Snow Walks
Winter doesn’t mean that you should (only) hibernate under a blanket. Going for a walk in a snowy path is in my opinion a lot of fun. It’s maybe silly but I love the “crunchy” sound the snow makes when I step on it ! The best is when there’s snow everywhere but the sky is blue and sunny, it’s really beautiful.
Here are some pictures of our walk in Olivet, the commune where my grand parents live (it’s in the center of France).
❆ Working Out
Around Christmas, I got lazy and kiiind of stopped working out and going to the gym at all. Now I’ve decided to be more disciplined, and I’m going at least 4 times a week. Let’s hope I can go further into this fitness journey !
I also decided to change how I worked out. Last year when I started, I was lifting light weights with many repetitions (~15 kg for 3 x 20 repetitions).
Now I’m going to try and lift heavier weights with less repetitions, ~25-30 for 3 x 12 repetitions. Let’s get strong ! ?
❆ Valentine’s Day
I’ve already told you how much I love Valentine’s Day in my previous posts. But I can’t help it, I’m in love with love !

❆ Discovering New Restaurants
There’s something else that I love very very much, and that is food. Here are two delicious restaurants that I really enjoyed this season, and that needed to be featured in my winter favorites :
-
Bears & Raccoons
Bears & Raccoons is an amazing gluten free place, where you can get sandwiches and salads. They seem small, but they are really filling ! I went with my mother since she’s gluten intolerant, and I was reaaaally impressed by the quality of their bread, it tasted not only as regular bread, but as TASTY regular bread ! I absolutely recommend this place if you ever visit Paris, as a gluten free person or not.
My sandwich : goat cheese, nuts, arugula salad, tomato slices, and fig jam ?
They also had the most tasty and shiniest dessert !
This Chocolate – walnut brownie with golden sprinkles over it :
Bears & Raccoons, 21 rue Richard Lenoir, 75011 Paris
-
La Tabernita
Ok La Tarbernita is not exactly a new discovery since I already knew about this restaurant, but I enjoy going there SO MUCH I had to mention it ! It’s a Colombian restaurant, and it’s in my opinion the best in Paris (of all the ones that I know). Their food tastes like when I’m at my Colombian grand parents, but presented in a fancy way.
Here’s the “small size” Bandeja Paisa that I ate :
La Tabernita, 79 rue de Charonne, 75011, PARIS
❆ New Fashion Finds
If you haven’t read my Fashion Shopping Haul #3, now’s the time ! I really enjoy exploring new trends in fashion, and this winter I made many shopping finds.
❆ Deep Hydration
Let’s be honest, winter means dry skin. Even though I have an oily type skin, my face somehow manages to peel on the sides because on the cold, while being super greasy in the middle. I mean, just make up your mind skin !
Fortunately, I’ve been approached by Wishtrend, a Korean skin care and beauty retailer that offered me to try out some products. This one is the Supple Preparation Facial Toner from Klairs, and it has moisturized my skin SO MUCH without greasing it at all !
My skin din’t peel even once this winter, I’m actually amazed by this product.
I’ll be reviewing it later to give you more details ?

Another product that I’ve used a lot for moisture, is this Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream from Fresh, that I got in my Maria’s Floral Box. I didn’t use that one daily, because it’s quite a rich cream and that in the end, I still have oily skin. I only used it when my skin needed to heal from cold irritation, it feels sooo good to apply it then !

❆ Lip Balms Everywhere
My face needs hydration in winter, but so do my lips. My lips are forever chapped, in winter AND during the summer. That’s why I always have a lip balm stick in every place of my home (I’m almost not kidding), and in my bag !
The best ones in this picture : the Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer, and second the Cattier Lip Care
❆ New Washing Machine
This one is maybe a bit silly, but this is the very first washing machine that we own ! Our home is a bit more like a real one now, with adult stuff. Thank god we don’t need to go to the laundromat anymore !
Now, let’s talk about series !
Fortunately Victor has a Netflix account thanks to his mother, we can watch a lot of Netflix original series. That’s why many of my favorites are available on it.
❆ Mind Hunter
This one takes place in the late 70’s, when the world started to get interested in understanding why certain murderers were “mad”, why was their mind the way it was?
The concept of “serial killer” was born.
❆ Peaky Blinders
I love Peaky Blinders ! You follow a family gang in Birmingham, and they pretty much rule the whole thing. Until Thomas Shelby has the great idea to steal a random box full of guns belonging to someone important, and leading to many many unpredictable situations.
❆ Love
It’s about a love story (thanks Captain Obvious) between a “too nice” guy, Gus, and a wild girl with issues, Mickey. Both were recently unlucky in their previous relationships, and are pretty much looking for a change.
❆ Atypical
A series about a teenage boy who lives with autism. Since he is in high school, he starts to get interested in girls, but it’s not always easy to understand others or get them to understand you when you’re on the spectrum.
❆ Altered Carbon
Last but so not least, Altered carbon is a science fiction series where death is not an end anymore. The human conscience is stored into chips, that can be inserted into any body.
Takeshi Kovacs, a prisoner whose chip has been “stored” in jail for hundreds of years, is reinserted into a body by a very rich man, so he can solve his own murder.
That’s it !
Which are you own favorites during the winter season ? ?
Hayley says
I love Peaky Blinders! I couldn’t get into Mindhunters though, maybe I should give it another shot!
Lise says
Love your favorites! I mostly just see people talk about different products so it’s nice to see a list with more diverse things, it feels more ‘real’, if you understand what i mean haha :’)
Oriana says
Yeah that’s what I wanted to do ! I like talking about products but only that feels too marerial, which can seem inauthentic as you said ?
kerry says
I think I must be the only person in the world that hasnt watched Peaky Blinders haha. Its on my to do list when I finish Orphan Black. There are some great favourites here, and I am with you on the lip balm front. I literally have them in every bag and pocket. My lips really suffer in the winter. I enjoyed reading xx
Oriana says
Hahaha, it’s really good though ! But Orphan Black comes definitely first ? Thanks, I’m glad that you liked my post ! ?
Brenda says
Great list and ideas. My sister is watching Mind Hunter and enjoys. I love finding and trying new restaurants and walking in the snow – done deal. Good for you and your sister to take a sewing glass and I love the case.
Kirsty says
Winter walks are the best! We don’t usually get much snow here, so I wanted to make the most of it. We watched Altered Carbon too – it’s a book as well, but I think this is one of the rare occasions where I liked the series more.
Oriana says
I was in facf thinking of reading the book ! You wouldn’t recommend it then ? ?
Deborah Hunter Kells says
Wow – big list here. My faves are a good washing machine – great you have a leg up there! And with winter coming (I’m in Australia) it is warm warm jumpers and bottoms too. Have to feel no cold..
Shannon says
Oh my gosh I Feel like we are the same person in terms of netflix hehe. I loveee atypical, love, and mindhunter!! My mom and i are watching call the midwife right now and we are obsessed. U might like it! Ill have to check out peaky blinders. And omg I HAve had the absolute worst dry skin this winter so bad that i cant put makeup on way too dry and flaky. Its been super annoying but i think I finally found whats working for me best is using my clarisonic and these reallyyy good moisturizers got in the “sephoras skin favorites” kit.
Oriana says
Haha that’s cool ! I’ll check out the midwife then ? I’ve been wanting to try out the clarisonic, do you recommend it ? Yeah the sephora range has been great too, I love their masks ??
Kirsty says
No, the book was good – I just liked what they did with the hotel and the characters a bit more in the TV series. I’m still glad I read the book, and I only found out yesterday that it’s the first part of a trilogy. I thought it was a stand-alone book.
Oriana says
Oh ok, good to know ! I’ll definitely read it then ?
